Salami was asked about U.S. claim made in their fact sheet after the
Lausanne statement, according to which they have permission to inspect military
centers. Salami replied, “I believe not only we won’t give permission to
foreign countries to inspect our military centers, but we will not allow them
to even think about this matter even in their dreams or fantasies. They will
not be allowed to inspect even the most ordinary military sites in our country.
Our bases are the centers of jihad and determination. To allow an inspector to
visit our bases is the same as occupation of our land because all of our
defense secrets are gathered in our military centers. For this reason, even
bringing up such matters even if it is merely for the sake of talks, it is
tantamount to national humiliation.”
Salami said: “We will respond to inspection of military sites with hot
lead (bullets).”
