IRAN-Sanctions-scarred banks may hold back Iran’s economic relief


Major banks wary of heavy U.S. penalties will be reluctant to restore ties with Iran even if sanctions are lifted in a possible nuclear deal, bank executives and advisers say, likely denting Iran’s ambition to attract foreign investment to revive its crippled economy.

A group of U.S. senators have expressed their concern over the ongoing postponement of the State Department’s Iran Human Rights Report.
States that routinely oppress their own citizens as a method of survival lack legitimacy and pose security threats to their neighbors,' the senators wrote.
