Passing away of Asghar Sharifi, one of those injured in June 2013 rocket attack on Camp Liberty

NCRI - At noon Friday, January 30, Mr. Asghar Sharifi, a veteran official of People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and a member of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) with 45 years of political experience, a political prisoner under the Shah, and an oil engineer who had been.

severely injured in the head and neck during the 15 June 2013 rocket attack, passed away in a hospital in Albania. Following the rocket attack, he was transferred to a Baghdad hospital, but Iraqi physicians stated that removal of shrapnel from his skull was not possible.

As such, he suffered from severe and continuous headaches. After one month and following much effort, he was transferred to Albania where he received medical treatment.The condition of Mr. Asghar Sharifi deteriorated in early January 2015 due to the injury and the effect of the shrapnel and he was once again hospitalized in a hospital in Tirana. Finally, after 25 days in coma, he passed away.

Mr. Sharifi was born in 1949 and joined the PMOI in 1971. He was arrested in 1974 by the SAVAK (Shah’s secret police) and went under torture spending 3.5 years in prison. After the anti-monarchial revolution, he became the head of the department for studies and cooperation with the press at the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance in Bazargan’s administration. However, a few months later, he quit this ministry in protest to the suppression of freedoms.

Four days after the rocket attack, he protested to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights about the silence regarding rocket attacks on Camp Liberty and wrote: UNAMI monitors continuously refer to our places and take pictures for no apparent reason.

“They came to our dining hall several times and took photos from inside and outside of the hall. We do not know what he needed those photos for, but unfortunately the hall was hit by rockets and we were injured there…

We urge you condemn this criminal act, which is considered a crime against humanity and call for an impartial, independent and urgent investigation on this criminal act. Do not allow the Iranian regime and Iraqi Government to use your silence for the continuation of their crimes”.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, offered her condolences on the passing away of Mr. Asghar Sharifi to his family and children, as well as all residents of Camp Liberty and the people and the youth of the city of Qom, his birthplace. She once again reminded the United States and the United Nations of their duties and their repeated and written commitments regarding the security and well being of Liberty residents and called for immediate measures to prevent further human casualties.

Tehran :anumber of youth clashed with the Basij militans

According to eyewitness reports from the capital city Tehran, a number of Tehrani youth tried to intervene when a group of Basij militants attempted to make trouble and harass a couple accusing them of not being properly veiled in accordance to the mullahs despicable dress code. After the youth intervention, the couple also resisted and the annoying Basij militants fled before being beaten by the crowd.

Mrs. MaryamRajavi , President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, speaking about the Argentinean prosecutor Alberto Nisman, assassinated on the verge of a hearing at the Argentinean parliament in the fight against state sponsored terrorism, the religious fascism ruling Iran, and collaborations in this regard, said:  Dr. Alberto Nisman is not just a martyr of the Argentinean people, but a martyr for peace and humanity in the fight against terrorism. In particular, he is considered a martyr of the Iranian people and their resistance in their fight against fundamentalism and terrorism emanating from this regime. He valiantly stood up against the mullahs’ regime and exposed the dirty political and economic deals aimed at saving this regime from the great crime of the AMIA bombing and refused to give in to the repeated and escalating threats against him in the recent months.
The objective of this cowardly assassination is to obscure the reality and wash the hands of the religious fascism ruling Iran from the great crime of AMIA and to pave the way for deals with the mullahs. From the very first days after this massive terrorist explosion, the Iranian Resistance exposed that the decision for the bombing was taken at regime’s Supreme National Security Council and that its perpetrators were the regime’s leaders, its intelligence ministry and Qods Force, and the Lebanese Hezbollah. This matter was brought in detail to the attention of the investigative judge of the case in several meetings at the Argentine Embassy in Paris by Mr. Ebrahim Zakeri, PMOI official and the time Chair of the Security and Anti-terrorism Commission of the National Council of Resistance ( NCRI ), and his colleagues.
“Although the anti-human mullahs’ regime and its collaborators took away a noble and courageous prosecutor from the international community, but this cowardly assassination shall not bring justice to a halt and doubtless the leaders of the mullahs’ regime will surely face justice for hundreds of terrorist acts, as well as the execution of 120,000 political prisoners and the slaughter of the peoples of Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Lebanon,” Mrs. Rajavi added.
Alluding to the political steps taken by the clerical regime to pave the way prior to the murder of Prosecutor Nisman, Mrs. Rajavi called for an independent international probe to find the perpetrators of this great crime against truth and justice. “An investigation into this matter is part of the investigation into the AMIA crime and will surely shed added light on the role of the Iranian regime in that crime as well. Any one of the crimes perpetrated by this regime as the bankroller of state sponsored terrorism, if investigated, will lead to the most senior officials of this regime. Export of terrorism is a tool for this regime to advance its policies and it shall never abandon it. The appeasement of the mullahs by the West has encouraged them in their export of terrorism and fundamentalism, such that today, its terrorist and fundamentalist crimes have engulfed the whole region,” she emphasized.
According to the investigations by Prosecutor Nisman, the plan to blow up the Jewish center in Buenos Aires was discussed in a meeting of Iranian regime’s Supreme National Security Council on 14 August 1993 by Khamenei (the supreme leader), Hashemi Rafsanjani (President), Ali Akbar Velayati (Foreign Minister), and Ali Fallahian (Minister of Intelligence). Once the decision for the bombing was finalized, Khamenei tasked the intelligence ministry and the revolutionary guards’ Qods Force (IRGC-QF) to carry out the bombing. At that time, Ahmad Vahidi was the Commander of the Qods Force and Mohsen Rezaii was the Commander of IRGC. Nisman’s investigation reveals that Mullah Mohsen Rabbani, the lead in regime’s terrorism in Latin America who was working there under the cover of regime’s cultural attaché at mullahs’ embassy in Buenos Aires, along with another agent from the ministry of intelligence called Ahmad Reza Asghari working under the cover of embassy’s Third Secretary, and Imad Moghnia, the military commander of Hezbollah, were involved in implementing this plan.
On 25 October 2006, the Argentinean prosecutor issued international arrest warrants for the above individuals except for Khamenei. Nisman worked hard for the trial of these individuals in absentia. The hysterical enmity of the mullahs’ regime toward Prosecutor Nisman is evident from the fact that at least five of the eight people whose arrest warrants have been issued, namely Rafsanjani, the Head of the State Exigency Council; Velayati, Advisor to Khamenei; Fallahian, member of the Assembly of Experts and a Khamenei advisor; Mohsen Rezaii, Secretary of the State Exigency Council; and Ahmad Vahidi, member of the State Exigency Council and member of Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, are all senior officials of the clerical regime and their trial in absentia will turn into a trial of the regime as a whole and will thus affect Khamenei as well.
It was not coincidental that mullahs’ regime media, especially Fars, the IRGC news agency, disseminated numerous fallacious reports during the days January 15 thru 18, or the days prior to the assassination of Prosecutor Nisman, which completely distorted the reality and were aimed at depicting that Nisman’s insistence on the responsibility of the Iranian regime in the AMIA bombing “had raised strong protests from various sectors in this country (Argentina)” and thus “the Argentinean society is enraged by Nisman” (Fars News Agency – January 17). The IRGC news agency heinously reported on 18 January 2015 that “Nisman is an American and Israeli prosecutor and instead of serving his country’s judicial system is carrying out activities for U.S. and the Zionist regime’s intelligence organizations”. Doubtless these absurd statements were paving the way for the assassination of Dr. Nisman.

Camp Ashraf: Vandalizing Pearl Cemetery and destroying grave stones, an anti-human act by forces under command of Hadi Ameri

In an anti-human crime in mid-January and by the orders of Hadi Ameri, the Iraqi forces and the criminal militias stationed in Ashraf destroyed the Pearl Cemetery in Ashraf along with its memorials, symbolic statues, walls and even the grave stones.

Since 2012 and on various occasions, the Iraqi forces used to destroy parts of the cemetery, but despite repeated protests by the residents’ representatives to the United States and the United Nations , they took no effective measures to prevent this repulsive crime.

This anti-human behavior is a reminder of the behavior of the religious fascism ruling Iran that out of fear of the widespread social affinity for the PMOI constantly destroys the graves of PMOI/MEK members and prevents gathering of relatives and friends at the grave sites pay respect to the fallen. This regime knows all too well that PMOI martyrs are an inspiration to the Iranian people for steadfastness and resistance to overthrow the mullahs and establish democracy in Iran.

Years ago, the name, account number, and monthly pay of Hadi Ameri who is under the command of the Quds Force were disclosed in the list of those who receive salary from the Quds Force. Since last July that he occupied Ashraf and turned it into the headquarters for the militias affiliated with the Quds Force, he resorted to plunder residents’ property and vehicles in coordination with Maliki’s National Security Advisor Faleh Fayadh.

Time and again, residents called on the UN and U.S. officials to make arrangements for the cemetery in Ashraf to be protected and looked after at the expense of residents. On December 2, 2102, Fars News Agency, affiliated with the revolutionary guards (IRGC), published pictures of some of the graves in Ashraf that had been destroyed. In response to protests from the residents’ representative in Camp Liberty, Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General (DSRSG) wrote on December 7: “Desecration of graves is unacceptable and if anything like that happened, we will raise our voice. I trust that the Iraqi authorities…will respect the sanctity of the graves of your fallen ones. I will certainly discuss this issue with them.”

However, no voices were raised. Residents’ representative wrote to DSRSG on December 16: “The repulsive and criminal behavior of the mullahs’ intelligence agents and that of the Iraqi forces in treating Ashraf cemetery and destroying the graves disrespectfully... has provoked no reaction on your behalf and that of the SRSG whereas such behavior is denounced by all religions and human cultures.”

Once again, the Iranian Resistance calls on the U.S. government, the UN Secretary-General, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Iraq, and the UN High Commissioners for Human Rights and Refugees to take immediate action to stop this anti-human and immoral trend and to protect the graves of the deceased in Ashraf.

On Monday, January 26, in a conference at Council of Europe titled “The crisis of terrorism and fundamentalism, roots, solutions, role of religious dictatorship in Iran”, Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, described the eviction of the Iranian regime from Iraq and Syria as the foremost step to win the fight against fundamentalism and underscored on the need to help the Syrian people to overthrow Bashar Assad. She warned: The massacre of hundreds of thousands in Syria and Iraq will not end with these countries and the flames of this war will spread to the whole region and will also reach the heart of Europe.
The conference “The crisis of terrorism and fundamentalism, roots, solutions, role of religious dictatorship in Iran” was held at the invitation of British, Swiss and Finnish parliamentary committees concurrent with the official meeting of the Council of Europe at its headquarters in Strasburg. In this conference, Mrs. Rajavi expressed abhorrence for crimes such as the slaughter of journalists and opening fire on defenseless people in France and stated that the spirit of Islam rejects these actions with utmost repugnance.
In this conference held at the presence of a number of European legislators, including leaders of groups of representatives from various European countries and different political groups, Rajavi emphasized on the need for the eviction of the Iranian regime, the Qods Force and its so-called Shia militias in Iraq. She reminded that without uprooting the Iranian regime and its militias in Iraq, even if the war against ISIS weakens the group in Iraq, it will spread this phenomenon internationally.
In another part of her speech, Rajavi mentioned that the weakness shown by the West in the face of the Iranian regime’s nuclear weapons program, the inclusion of this regime in the international coalition against ISIS, or courting this regime in some way in Iraq and Syria, are all elements that would defeat the strategy of confronting fundamentalism and would give this regime space to operate in and attack from, devastating other countries in the region in fire and bloodshed.
Mrs. Rajavi said that the narrative that Sunni fundamentalism is more dangerous than Shiite fundamentalism and the former should be confronted with the aid of the latter, is a dangerous theory for closing the eyes on the clerical regime’s destructive dominion over the region. This is part of the narrative underpinning a policy with which some American and western politicians have steered the world toward the current disaster. She warned: Acquiescing regime's meddling in Iraq on the pretext of fighting ISIS is a hundred times more dangerous than the nuclear weapon and a prelude to a greater catastrophe and it is tantamount to avoiding a hole but falling in a well.
President-elect of the Resistance also participated today in official meetings of several political groups, including the Christian Democrats (the largest group in the Council of Europe) and the Liberals, making speeches at the request of the representatives.
Similarly, Rajavi warned about offering concessions to this regime in the nuclear talks and stated that the regime’s nuclear program has no legitimacy for the Iranian people. She thus called on the international community to implement the United Nations resolutions in this regard.
In this conference, presided over by senior Finnish legislator Kimmo Sasi, the following offered speeches: Jordi Xucla, Leader of Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Group and sent Carmen Quintanilla (Spain); Tiny Kox (Netherlands), Leader of Unified European Left Group; Mike Hancock and Alan Meale (Great Britain); Eric Voruz (Switzerland); Senator Bernard Fournier, Frédéric Reiss, Emile Blessig (France); leaders of Italian and Estonian delegations; Egidijus Vareikis (Lithuania) and Scott Sims (Canada); Nazir Hakim, General Secretary of Syrian National Coalition political delegation, and Nejat al-Astal, President of the Palestinian delegation in PACE.
President-elect of the Iranian Resistance accentuated: The ultimate solution in confronting fundamentalism lies in the overthrow of the Iranian regime as the epicenter of fundamentalism and terrorism. With the regime's downfall, al-Qaeda, ISIS, Hezbollah or Houthis will no longer present a serious threat to peace and democracy and will be deprived of power and influence. In the face of this destructive force with its source in Tehran, instead of appeasing the mullahs, the will of the Iranian people to overthrow the clerical regime must be recognized by the international community.

The sudden transfer of political prisoner Hamid Reza Moradi from hospital to the prison

Political prisoner Hamid Reza Moradi who is suffering from heart disease and severe obstruction of his legs’ vessels, was suddenly returned to the prison cell before he had a chance to receive medical care at Sina hospital where he was hospitalized and under care. He was scheduled to go to Shohada Hospital for heart analysis and consultation on Sunday Jan. 25th.  The neurosurgeon medical team in Sina Hospital in his last medical report about this dervish political prisoner had emphasized on his continuation and the necessary medical procedures that should be observed regarding his health to control his illness and also prevention of stress to avoid worsening of his illness. But the prison authorities did not pay any attention to these medical directives and transferred Hamid Reza Moradi; the political prisoner back to the prison without receiving full medical attention.
